Your credit limit is not your budget
Credit is borrowed money you must repay. Your limit may be larger than what you can afford. Before buying, consider your income and existing commitments.
Statement closing date
Ends a purchase period and produces your statement.
Payment due date
The last day to cover the amount required by that statement. Allow time for payment processing.
Minimum payment
The minimum required to keep the payment current; it usually does not avoid interest.
Payment to avoid interest
The amount shown on the statement to pay on time to avoid ordinary interest on eligible purchases.
Regla Totalero
Buy only what you can afford
Start with an everyday expense already in your budget, not extra shopping to earn rewards.
Set the money aside when buying
Weekly or fortnightly checks and payments can help you stay in control.
Review the statement
Check charges, credited payments, instalments and the payment to avoid interest.
Pay the required amount on time
Cover the remaining payment to avoid interest before the due date. Earlier payments help but do not replace checking the statement.
Understand costs before accepting
CAT · Total Annual Cost
Helps compare borrowing costs under comparable conditions. It is not a monthly interest rate or an amount directly deducted from your purchase. Review interest, annual fees, other charges and the contract.
MSI · Interest-free instalments
Spread a purchase into instalments under specific terms. They commit future income and usually use your credit limit. Verify the promotion and cover what your statement requires. Deferring for a fee is not the same as interest-free instalments.
Credit history, cash and special charges
Timely payments help maintain a repayment record but do not guarantee approval. Cash withdrawals, late payments and special plans may carry separate interest and fees even if you pay eligible purchases in full.
